SUMMARY: The Laborers’ National Health and Welfare Fund is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Benefits and Contributions Processing Associate for our fast-paced Fund Office. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills to professionally engage with members, union representatives, and employers. A strong sense of responsibility and meticulous attention to detail are essential for success in this full-time role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Assist with phone service to participants/direct calls to appropriate internal contact or external vendor. Maintain phone log. Clear voice mails and print and route faxes as necessary.
  • Assist in records organization and maintenance of member files. Create and manage protected health information (PHI) compliant with HIPAA and Fund Office practices.
  • Prepare, mail, and collect enrollment and eligibility documentation consistent with HIPAA and Fund Office requirements.
  • Perform data entry of member and dependent information into basys system. Check eligibility and work hours.
  • Determine accuracy of and post Employer and Employee reports and contributions. Communicate with Employer and Local Union representatives regarding contributions and hours reported.
  • Assist in the Funds’ delinquency control program. Calculate principal and interest on payments due and payments made.
  • Prepare and scan files, correspondence, posted report forms and other documents as directed.
  • Assist in preparing and mailing materials to Participants and Participating Employers including COBRA, Short Term Disability, and Life Insurance documents, consistent with HIPAA and Fund Office requirements.
  • Participate in mandatory training on HIPAA and other relevant topics.
  • Actively learn and apply Fund plan rules and procedures to all work.
  • Perform all other clerical duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Minimum of two (2) years of office environment experience required (education can be substituted for experience - see Education section below)
  • Ability to express self clearly and have a strong aptitude for detail; good logic is a must; ability to speak, interpret and translate Spanish is preferred but not required
  • Basic computer and typing skills; proficient in Microsoft and G-Suite software; must become familiar with pension software used for Plan Participants
  • Must be dependable and have a strong ability to carry out a variety of tasks, when presented, on a
  • timely basis
  • Good attendance is critical to success
  • Professional and business telephone etiquette
  • Must have a high degree of accuracy in performing both supervised and non-supervised tasks

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-year college degree is required, or alternatively, 2+ years of office experience can be substituted for the education requirement
