Overview:
NYSUT is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Programmer Analyst (Endpoint Security Engineer) to join our growing security and operations team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing our endpoint security solutions across a diverse environment of Windows and Apple (macOS) endpoints. You will play a key role in protecting our organization from evolving cyber threats and ensuring the integrity of our endpoint infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Administer and optimize endpoint management solutions (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Jamf Pro) for Windows and macOS devices, including device enrollment, configuration profiles, application deployment, and patch management
- Package, deploy, and manage the lifecycle of various software applications across both platforms, ensuring licensing compliance and timely updates
- Leverage scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate routine tasks, improve efficiency, and enhance endpoint management capabilities
- Design, implement, configure, and manage endpoint security solutions (e.g., EDR, AV, DLP, Host Firewall, Vulnerability Management) for both Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Monitor endpoint security alerts, investigate incidents, and respond to security incidents in a timely and effective manner.
- Develop and implement security policies, secure configurations, standards, and procedures for endpoint devices.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on endpoints to identify and remediate security weaknesses.
- Ensure seamless integration of security solutions and minimize impact on NYSUT staff productivity.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all endpoint security configurations and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest endpoint engineering, trends, and technologies, along with endpoint security threats and technologies, and best practices in endpoint management and security to continuously improve our environment.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a comparable number of years of related subject matter experience
- 3+ years of experience in endpoint engineering, security engineering, with a strong focus on both Windows and macOS environments.
- Knowledge of Windows 10/11 and macOS operating systems, including their architecture, security features, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, and Jamf for Windows and Mac device management
- Technically fluent in Windows 10 OS, Office 365 Cloud; applicable Microsoft certifications beneficial
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python
- Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) principles and technologies (e.g., Active Directory, Azure AD).
- Cybersecurity knowledge and understanding of security’s importance in system configuration, data distribution and support call execution
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator, Jamf Certified Admin, CompTIA Security+) are a plus.
- Ability to travel and work nights and weekends as required for urgent responsive needs, special initiatives, and/or rollout
- Union environment experience and union values preferred
