We are seeking a leader who is articulate, a believer in public education, employee rights, and skilled in organizing workers.

Our mission is to support and enhance the professional roles of teachers; advocate teachers’ interests; collaborate with all segments of the community to assure quality public education for Hawaiʻi’s youth; and promote human and civil rights to support and nurture diversity in our multifaceted community.

We have an opening for the position of Deputy Executive Director on Oahu and are looking for a strong advocate to represent State of Hawaiʻi Department of Education and public school K-12 teachers. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with the ability to provide supervision, guidance and support to staff, while effectively managing programs and initiatives that advance the union’s mission. If you are a professional with an understanding of labor union operations and direct experience working with Hawaiʻi public school teachers, union advocacy, representation, organizing, program coordination and bargaining, we’d like to talk to you.

Baccalaureate degree, supervision and labor relations experience required. This position requires travel out-of-state, and is an exempt full-time position located on Oahu. Experience fostering collaboration with staff and working effectively with labor unions is highly desirable.
