Organizing Coordinator

UAW 4811 is looking for a talented Organizing Coordinator committed to building a powerful and democratic union. The ideal candidate will have previous organizing experience in labor. This position is full time.
About UAW 4811:
UAW 4811 is the union of 48,000 academic workers at the University of California system, covering Teaching Assistants, Tutors, Readers, Graduate Student Researchers, Postdocs, and Academic Researchers across 10 UC campuses and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. UAW 4811 is the largest higher education union in the country, leading the movement to make higher education more equitable, accessible, and democratic.
Job Duties:
- Develop and implement a statewide organizing program
- Coordinate implementation of organizing program across all campuses
- Train, support and supervise lead organizers across the state
- Work with elected leaders and staff across the state to develop and implement coordinated statewide organizing program
- Identify, recruit, and train workplace leaders–help build and develop a strong network of leaders in every program and area.
- Work with leaders and staff to craft and execute strategic organizing and communications plans
- Analyze data to develop organizing strategies and ensure the organizing program is meeting established goals

- An interest in learning and developing democratic, worker-led organizing practices
- Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative group
- The ability to meet with workers in a variety of locations on your assigned campaign. This role will include talking with workers both one-on-one and in groups
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with worker representation and collectively bargained agreements
- Proficient with Google tools such as Gmail and Google Drive (docs & sheets)
- At least 3 year previous labor organizing experience is preferred, with at least 1 year of experience as a lead organizer
- Able to work full-time, in person, and travel
Pay and Benefits:
Salary starts at $96,892 per year for full-time employment. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
