Accounting Technology Clerk III

Based in Upper Marlboro, MD

 

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is a trade union representing 600,000 active and retired members in the North American aerospace, defense, airline, manufacturing, transportation, woodworking, and other industries.

The IAM seeks to fill an Accounting Technology Clerk III bargaining unit position at IAM Headquarters in Upper Marlboro MD. 

Qualifications: An associate degree in accounting and/or a sound general accounting knowledge based upon equivalent experience encompassing the areas defined within the job duties specified below. Requires basic knowledge of accounting principles and systems and a thorough, working knowledge of payroll and pension administration/processing. Candidate must be able to efficiently and timely demonstrate their accounting skills with a minimum of direction and will be required to satisfactorily complete a relevant test to confirm same, including their ability to understand and work efficiently utilizing Windows and spreadsheet applications. Must be able to meet daily deadlines.

The successful bidder will be allowed up to thirty days to satisfactorily demonstrate the required qualifications.

Job Duties:

  1. Administration of computerized U.S. and Canadian payrolls (weekly & monthly) 
    • Exception processing – proofing and data entry
    • Computer file maintenance (salaries, deduction codes, etc.)
    • Payroll execution (calculations and processing) and controls
    • Report preparation and distribution
    • Problem resolution – responding to employees/pensioners/business agents, working with personnel and pension departments
    • Maintenance of payroll records and reports (computer and paper files)
  2. Administration of computerized U.S. & Canadian pensions (monthly)
    (The responsibilities for these operations are basically the same as those outlined above for the payroll operations.)
  3. Administration of computerized U.S. & Canadian Business Agents monthly reimbursements
    (The responsibilities for these operations are basically the same as those outlined above for the payroll operations.)
  4. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Salary: $48.45 per hour (35-hour week) to start and comprehensive benefits package including employer-paid family health care, dental, eye, and a defined benefit pension.
