Light Maintenance Tech / Custodian / Grounds
(Full-Time)

Based in Federal Way, WA

Responsibilities: 

  • Inspect and perform maintenance on assigned equipment and facilities.
  • Inspect and identify equipment or machine(s) in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoot issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Plan repair work using the building's blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
  • Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician (e.g., repair drywall, painting, repairing doors and other building fixtures, etc.).
  • Perform routine maintenance on building systems.
  • Ensure assigned facilities and equipment are ready for regular business and special events.
  • Clean and assist with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Develop and implement a work order tracking system.
  • Maintain files of warranties, records, licenses, inspections, service agreements, and contracts for various pieces of equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain the inventory, storage, and distribution of equipment.
  • Order supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Provide recommendations for the purpose of purchasing new equipment.
  • Collaborate with other appropriate management staff to prepare and implement the budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of the equipment and facilities to be maintained.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry, light repair, and custodial practices.
  • Regular experience using hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Ability to maintain records and warranties using Microsoft 365 or similar software.
  • Ability to perform the physical functions of the job—with or without reasonable accommodation—including tasks that may require moving objects, prolonged standing, walking, or working in varying environmental conditions.
  • Working knowledge of safe handling and storage of cleaning agents and maintenance chemicals, including familiarity with safety protocols related to ventilation systems, custodial practices, and building maintenance.
  • Must be able to work in person at WEA Headquarters in Federal Way, WA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in facilities maintenance or building operations (e.g., Facilities Maintenance Technician Certificate) preferred.

Supervision
The successful incumbent will function as a member of the Support Services Center and will report to the Director of Human Resources and Facilities.
